Anthony Hamilton : 08 23 2011

Jill Scott’s Block Party Tour : Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek : Raliegh, NC : 08 23 2011 :

I hopped in my car one early-afternoon, headed to Raleigh, NC from DC, to shoot the “Jill Scott’s Block Party Tour” show, excited as can be. It was to be my first time shooting Jill Scott, who I loooooove, my 4th or 5th time seeing her in concert, my 4th time shooting Anthony Hamilton, and my 10th time seeing him in concert.

I had some difficulties once I arrived, and was only able to shoot Anthony Hamilton, but I made the most of the experience.

I’m a huge fan of his music. It’s something about how honest and raw his lyrical content is, and how soulful it sounds. You can put it on, and just snap your fingers, clap, or hit that tamborine. If you’ve never seen Anthony Hamilton in concert, and you are a fan of his music, you are missing an experience. His energy stays on 1,000. I’ve seen him in concert with a torn ACL, and even on crutches, he was live – dancing with all the big-boned sistahs, and hopping around on the good foot. No pun.

Once I finished sorting through the photos, I emailed them to him, and in his reply, he said “I truly appreciate you brother…Continue to capture God’s beauty.”. That meant a lot to me, because that’s exactly what I feel like I’m doing – with each of these shows, and I want to be known and remembered for that. Thank you God for the many blessings.
