High School Tour : 930 Club : Washington, DC : 12 07 2011 :
I arrived at 930 Club, a little late, after a 35 mile per hour race from another venue, where I had just finished shooting Anthony Hamilton. I mentioned the 35MPH because I was pulled over by a cop for running a red light (which was yellow), and going 40MPH based on his eye-radar. Smh. Anyways…
This was my first time shooting Snoop Dogg, and my 3rd time shooting Wiz Khalifa. I have to admint that this show was everything I wanted it to be – and some. Their energy was insane. Snoop is such an OG. I’ve been a fan since the purchase of my very first cd – “Doggy Style”.
He hit the stage joined by Daz and Kurupt, and performed a number of songs from Doggy Style and more recent albums. He even did a medley with Notorius B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize” and House of Pain’s “Jump Around”.
Wiz Khalifa took the stage next, joined by Chevy Woods, with energy that was unbelievable. He did some old stuff, and some of the more recent stuff. The highlight for me – “Tay-lor GANG! Tay-lor GANG! Tay-lor GANG! You know I’m reppin’ Tayyy-lor…Bang! Bang! Bang!”. The audience simple lost their minds! You had to be there.
Toward the end, both Snoop and Wiz performed some songs together.
Wiz Khalifa took a moment to give Snoop his due credit for being an OG in the rap game, and thanking him for believing in him and his vision. It was the build up to get the crowd ready for “Drop it Like it’s Hot” (When the pimp’s in the crib ma…Drop it like it’s hot). After which, Snoop gave Wiz Khalifa credit for his 2010 hit “Black and Yellow”. The beat dropped, and they performed the remix to pretty much bring the show to an end.
I was exhausted, but still had a great time!
