This show right here, was one to remember. Up and coming act J’pennelope (featuring Anthony Hamilton’s Wife) performed a few songs to get the night started. After which one of my favorite Ladies in R&B hit the stage, looking good, and sounding like what I imagine an angel’s voice would sound like – Ms. Chrisette Michele. I love her in concert! Then, Anthony Hamilton and the Hamiltones (draped in Jordan Brand apparel) tore the roof off of Meyerhoff!

I was the only photographer shooting the show, which I always love, and with the all access granted, I was moving around and shooting all night. I had a seat that I paid good money for right on the 4th row, but who wants to sit, at a show like this one!

I shot the previous night’s show (which was awesome), but this one was “awesomer”. Lol.

This night, Anthony went out into the aisle to perform “Sistah Big Bones”, and got all of the “Juicy” (as he put it) women up on their feet – dancing. At another point in the show, there was an energetic rendition of Morris Day’s “The Bird”, and his traditional praise-moment with “Jesus Can Work It Out”. Since my first time seeing him in concert at the historic Lincoln Theater years ago, he’s always taken the time to thank God somewhere in his show. I can appreciate that.

The Point of it All:
After the show, I gained access to the meet and greet for a woman I know, and her boyfriend, that I met secretly days prior to the show. To make a long story short, the guy reached out to me to say, “I want to propose to my Lady at the Anthony Hamilton show. Can you help make that happen?”. Nobody had every asked that of me before, and I had no idea how it would even play out. Gladly, Anthony Hamilton and his management made it happen. At the meet and greet, after I posed the couple with Anthony for a photo, the now “Husband To Be” started chatting with Anthony about barbershop stuff. The Lady said, “Ok, it was nice to meet you!”, and turned to walk away. Anthony Hamilton immediately started singing his song “Point of It All”, acapella. As the woman turned around, her guy was down on one knee, holding a box…containing a ring – and was nervous as all hell. Lol. Needless to say, she said “Yes.”. I had never witnessed a proposal, so it was a first for me. What a great moment!
