930 Club : Washington, DC : 01 11 2012 :
This was the first of 3 back to back sold out shows.
I had heard of them before, but wasn’t familiar with their music. However, I was ready for just about anything, and when I tell you that I was completely blown away – believe it. You hear me? They were absolutely amazing in concert. I don’t even know how to describe the type/genre of music, but there was a mix of reggae in there somewhere. Pullllll Upppppp! ***hits bare wall with open hand repeatedly. For a second I started looking around for clouds of green smoke.
The band was made up of about 10-12 people – song singers, and some instrumentalists.
From what it seemed, there were no restrictions on photography, so I stayed in the pit for quite a while. I have a somewhat funny story to tell about one of the other photographers, but you’ll have to message me directly for that one. Look to the sidebar on the right, and scroll up a little. You see that “Contact LaVan” button? Yeah, that’s the one.
Overall, it was a great show, considering that fact that I didn’t know any of the lyrics. I was able to simply enjoy good live music.
